USO POPULAR DAS PLANTAS MEDICINAIS NO TRATAMENTO DO CÂNCER: UMA REVISÃO
O câncer é uma doença com grande prevalência e a quantidade de novos casos vem aumentando consideravelmente por todo o mundo. No Brasil, o câncer é a segunda causa de mortes em adultos. Atualmente existem vários tipos de tratamentos para o câncer que são conforme a localização, extensão e o tipo de câncer, podendo ser usado um ou mais tipos de tratamentos, os mais convencionais são: a cirurgia, a quimioterapia e a radioterapia. Outros tratamentos não convencionais são usados como forma de diminuir os efeitos colaterais indesejados causados pelo tratamento oncológico, sendo uso de plantas medicinais e/ou medicamentos fitoterápicos. O objetivo deste estudo buscou juntar achados sobre plantas medicinais usadas no tratamento do câncer. No presente trabalho foi realizada revisão bibliográfica nas plataformas de dados: Google Acadêmico, Medline, PubMed, Lilacs e SciELO. Com base nos resultados obtidos através dos artigos selecionados, faz-se necessário que mais pesquisas científicas possam ser realizadas, e que tenham mais comprovações de plantas medicinais para um uso seguro, eficiente e eficaz. Portanto, sendo de fundamental importância a presença do profissional farmacêutico qualificado que conheça e atue diretamente no atendimento ao paciente oncológico, realizando a atenção farmacêutica e avaliando os riscos de toxicológicos do uso das plantas medicinais durante o tratamento do câncer.

Abstract:
Cancer is a highly prevalent disease and the number of new cases is increasing considerably all over the world. In Brazil, cancer is the second leading cause of death in adults. Currently there are several types of treatments for cancer depending on the location, extension and type of cancer, and one or more types of treatments can be used, the most conventional being: surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Other unconventional treatments are used as a way to reduce unwanted side effects caused by cancer treatment, being the use of medicinal plants and/or herbal medicines. The aim of this study sought to gather findings about medicinal plants used in cancer treatment. In the present work, an exploratory and descriptive research, of the bibliographic review type, was carried out. The survey was based on scientific publications present in the data platforms: Academic Google, Medline, PubMed, Lilacs and SciELO. Based on the results obtained through the selected articles, it is necessary that more scientific research can be carried out, and that they have more evidence of medicinal plants for a safe, efficient and effective use. Therefore, the presence of a qualified pharmaceutical professional who knows and acts directly in the care of cancer patients, performing pharmaceutical care and evaluating the toxicological risks of the use of medicinal plants during cancer treatment is of fundamental importance.
