Abstract: The indiscriminate use of insulin for weight loss purposes has become a growing concern in the field of public health, due to serious metabolic complications and risks to vital organs, such as: liver, kidneys and heart. Insulin, an essential hormone in controlling blood glucose, when used without medical supervision, can lead to hypoglycemia, insulin resistance and chronic diseases. The objective of this study was to investigate the role of the pharmacist in preventing the inappropriate use of insulin for weight loss, identifying the associated risks and proposing educational strategies. The methodology included a literature review carried out in databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar and Scopus. The results showed that, in addition to the risks of serious complications, such as hypoglycemia and damage to internal organs, the indiscriminate use of insulin is related to aesthetic standards and social pressure for the perfect body. The review highlighted that the role of pharmacists is 1 Acadêmica do 10o período do Curso de Farmácia do Centro Universitário Unibras - Rio Verde. 2 Professora Doutora do Curso de Farmácia do Centro Universitário Unibras - Rio Verde e orientadora do trabalho. 5 essential in educating the population about the dangers of this practice, promoting the rational use of medicines and the adoption of healthy habits.
