Abstract: This article aims to report an extension project carried out with pregnant women, within the context of the discipline Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Culture, part of the Nursing program at Faculdade Santíssima Trindade (FAST). The focus of the project was the safe use of medicinal plants during pregnancy. This is a qualitative, descriptive study that promoted educational activities involving lectures, practical workshops, discussion circles, and participatory dynamics. The results showed that, although the participants had empirical knowledge about the use of plants, they were unaware of the risks associated with certain herbs during pregnancy. The project raised awareness about the benefits and dangers of these practices, reinforcing the importance of mediating between traditional knowledge and scientific guidance. The initiative demonstrated the effectiveness of accessible and culturally sensitive dialogue in health education, contributing to the autonomy and safety of pregnant women.
