Abstract: Meliponines represent the main consumers of flower pollen in the humid tropics, however, they are currently highly threatened due to habitat loss, deforestation, burning and indiscriminate use of pesticides . The reduction in the diversity of stingless bees tends to directly lead to the extinction of native plant species, thus leading to a probable imbalance in several ecosystems. The implementation of teaching meliponaries in various educational institutions could serve as an example to demonstrate and explain the importance of meliponines. The objective of this work was to describe the teaching, research and extension activities developed, with the direct or indirect use of the didactic meliponary , present on the IF Baiano de Governador Mangabeira campus . In ten years from the implementation of the meliponário in 2013, it was possible to develop five research projects, three extension projects and several teaching activities involving different curricular components of integral and subsequent education . All projects achieved their objectives and are examples of how to address environmental issues, using a group of animals that are very important for the conservation of tropical ecosystems, and consequently improving the quality of life of all beings.
