Uso de materiais reciclados de pneus em obras de construção geotécnica

Abstract: Proper disposal of wastes from waste tires has gained focus due to current legislation. One solution would be recycling for several uses in construction. Based on this context, this research aimed to analyze the effects of the addition of tire residues as soil reinforcement. For this, mixtures with different percentages of pieces and rubber chips were analyzed. It was observe a reduction of the maximum specific apparent dry mass, increase of the average voids index, increase in cohesion values and reduction of the friction angle, because of the increase of the rubber content. No rupturing shear stress values were observe for the mixtures, and for all the compositions, the shear stress increase led to the increase in horizontal displacement. Based on the observed behavior, the addition of pneumatic wastes can improve the soil performance for a certain specific property
