Abstract: Rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament (RCCL) is one of the most prevalent orthopedic conditions in dogs, representing the main cause of degenerative joint disease in the knee. This article reviews the anatomical, pathophysiological and diagnostic aspects of RCCL, with emphasis on the surgical reconstruction technique using the synthetic ligament Evolig®. The study was based on a comprehensive literature review, analyzing criteria such as clinical efficacy, recovery time and postoperative complications. The results demonstrate that the technique with Evolig® offers significant advantages, including high biocompatibility, mechanical resistance and minimally invasive approach, although it presents limitations related to cost and applicability in small dogs. It is concluded that this method represents an innovative therapeutic option, but its indication should consider individual patient factors to optimize results.
