• Abstract: The use of Cannabis for medicinal purposes has gained prominence in recent decades, as science advances and new studies reveal the therapeutic properties of this plant. The research was carried out through a literature review, covering articles, books and other relevant publications on the medicinal use of Cannabis. THC is the main psychoactive component of Cannabis, being responsible for the feeling of euphoria often associated with recreational use of the plant, and cannabidiol (CBD) has no psychoactive effects, which gives it an attractive therapeutic profile for many patients. Both healthcare professionals and patients should be informed about the properties of Cannabis, its cannabinoids and their therapeutic applications.
