Abstract: Socio-emotional competencies enhance individuals' ability to connect with themselves and others, facilitating balanced emotional regulation and informed decision-making for problem-solving. This study aims to generate indicators based on the assessment of these competencies in first-year students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management. Using a quantitative approach, a self-administered situational test was applied, and the data were analyzed through descriptive statistics. The results show that both male and female students have positive perceptions of their emotional skills, particularly in the areas of emotional regulation of others, assertiveness, and self-regulation. However, women exhibit greater consistency between what they believe they should do and what they actually do, standing out in their understanding of their own emotions. In contrast, men show a less favorable self-perception in internal emotional skills, such as understanding their own and others’ emotions. These findings highlight the need to strengthen introspection and emotional self-awareness, as well as to design differentiated intervention strategies that specifically address the areas of opportunity identified in each group.
