Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) healthcare professionals about hospital infections and their perception of in-service multidisciplinary training. This is a descriptive and exploratory study carried out with professionals from an ICU in a public hospital in Ariquemes (RO). A questionnaire developed by the authors was used to assess knowledge about hospital infections and multidisciplinary training, in addition to a sociodemographic questionnaire, both administered between May and June 2024. A total of 47 ICU professionals participated, the majority of whom were female, with an average age of 39 years. Most were nursing technicians who received between one and three minimum wages and had a formal employment contract. Most participants had 10 or more years of experience, with an average of four to five years of experience in the ICU of this hospital. All used basic PPE and considered hand hygiene to be the most effective measure. Most professionals assessed the prevention of hospital infections as extremely relevant and recognized the practice of zero adornment as an important measure for infection control. Health professionals emphasize the need to increase the frequency and diversification of topics in training. It is necessary to assess the knowledge of the multidisciplinary ICU team about infections, with the aim of increasing awareness and, thus, improving the quality of care and promoting self-care.
