Abstract: Discrimination in the labor market against the LGBTQIA+ community is a persistent global challenge, despite the gradual recognition of rights in several nations. This article aimed to identify the barriers faced by this population, analyzing their main difficulties in the global socioeconomic context. The systematic literature review (SLR) methodology was used, with a structured search in the Scopus database and a careful selection of 10 articles published between 2022 and 2024, covering contexts such as Australia, Canada, Ecuador, Hungary, Romania, Mauritius, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Netherlands, with the help of StArt software for organization and analysis. The main findings reveal that the barriers are multifaceted and present throughout the professional cycle: proven discrimination in selection processes, pay disparities, limitations in career progression ("rainbow ceiling"), hostile work environments with harassment and microaggressions, and specific and severe challenges for transgender people (documentation, misgendering, low wages). Social norms of hetero/cisnormativity sustain these barriers, reflected in inadequate organizational policies. Fear leads to the concealment of identity, generating psychological costs such as anxiety and depression. It is concluded that anti-discrimination legislation is insufficient. A proactive organizational approach is needed, with policy review, robust training, safe reporting channels and the fostering of an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity, recognizing the intersectionality of experiences, to ensure equity and respect in the workplace
