UMA GEOGRAFIA HISTÓRICA URBANA/REGIONAL DA PROVÍNCIA FLUMINENSE
O texto analisa a formação territorial fluminense no período imperial brasileiro através de uma leitura geográfica que incorpora também a dimensão temporal em seus estudos por compreender que toda forma social é produto historicamente construído em um espaço e que este, a cada momento, denota processos de diferentes tempos. Assim, o texto observa como algumas frações do território fluminense configuraram espaços diferenciados no contexto político, econômico e social da província em um momento em que um projeto nacional imperial buscava efetivação. A premissa aqui é a de que tal projeto tinha marcante base territorial e considerava vilas e cidades, espaços urbanos, como mecanismo articulador de esferas regionais. É, neste sentido, que o texto associa os conceitos de cidade e região em uma leitura geohistórica possível do atual estado do Rio de Janeiro.

Abstract:
The text analyzes the territorial formation of the province of Rio de Janeiro in the Brazilian imperial period through a geographic reading that also incorporates the temporal dimension in its studies as it understands that every social form is a product historically constructed in a space and that this space denotes processes of different times, at each moment. Thus, the text observes how some fractions of the Rio de Janeiro territory configured different spaces in the political, economic and social context of the province at a time when an imperial national project was was being implemented. The premise here is that this project had an important territorial base and considered the urban spacies as mechanism for articulating regional spheres. In this sense, the text associates the concepts of city and region in a possible geohistorical reading of the current state of Rio de Janeiro.
