UMA DISCUSSÃO SOBRE OS MÉTODOS CIENTÍFICOS EM PESQUISAS EDUCACIONAIS
Este artigo apresenta a concepção
de diferentes autores sobre algumas
características fundamentais dos métodos de
pesquisa quantitativos, qualitativos e mistos. A
temática do artigo foi delimitada por um grupo
de estudantes de Pós-Graduação em Educação
em Ciências e Matemática de uma Instituição de
Ensino Superior do Rio Grande do Sul, o qual
se deparam com o seguinte questionamento:
Qual método de pesquisa utilizar? Desse modo,
realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre
algumas características presentes em qualquer
pesquisa, como: a natureza do problema, a
definição dos objetivos, os instrumentos de
coleta de dados e os sujeitos da pesquisa.
Não sendo possível contemplar na pesquisa
todas as obras que tratam sobre o assunto
selecionou-se as seguintes obras: Alves-
Mazzotti e Gewandsznajder (1999), Richardson
(1999), Creswell (2010), Cozby (2006), Gray
(2012) e Gil (2008, 2017). Em busca de facilitar
a compreensão da utilização de cada método
em pesquisas educacionais, apresentamse
alguns exemplos. Por fim, espera-se
esclarecer algumas dúvidas sobre as etapas
e características de cada método de pesquisa,
auxiliando os pesquisadores, principalmente da
área da educação, na definição do método e
consequentemente na pesquisa

Abstract:
This article presents the conception
of different authors about some fundamental
characteristics of quantitative, qualitative and
mixed research methods. The subject matter
was delimited by a group of graduate students
in Science and Mathematics Education of a
Higher Education Institution of Rio Grande
do Sul, which are faced with the following
question: Which research method to use? Thus,
a bibliographical research was carried out on
some characteristics present in any research,
such as: the nature of the problem, the definition
of the objectives, the instruments of data
collection and the subjects of the research. It
was not possible to contemplate in the research
all the works that deal with the subject selected
the following works: Alves-Mazzotti and
Gewandsznajder (1999), Richardson (1999),
Creswell (2010), Cozby (2006), Gray (2012)
and Gil (2008, 2017). In order to facilitate the

understanding of the use of each method in educational research, some examples
are presented. Finally, it is expected to clarify some doubts about the stages and
characteristics of each research method, assisting the researchers, mainly in the area
of education, in the definition of the method and consequently in the research.
