Abstract: Machining is recognized as the most popular manufacturing process in the world, transforming into chips something around 10% of all metal production and employing tens of millions of people. It is known that during the process a high concentration of heat is generated due to the friction and force that the cutting tool exerts on the piece, damaging them and making the process more expensive, requiring the use of means for cooling and lubrication of the work. Therefore, this work aims to deepen how this heat is generated and transmitted to the working components, and to explain the importance of coolants and lubricants, as well as other proposed alternatives for better machining conditions.
