Uma análise das representações da mulher em Rua do Siriri, de Amando Fontes
No final do século XIX e no início
do século XX, as mulheres sergipanas, vivendo
sob a dominação do poder patriarcal, ocupavam
determinações históricas das quais não
podiam escapar. Neste trabalho, investigamos
o romance Rua do Siriri, de Amando Fontes,
autor sergipano, a fim de elucidarmos como
as mulheres viviam nessa época por meio da
história de vida das personagens. Observamos,
então, que as personagens de Amando Fontes
eram de famílias pobres, em sua maioria
advindas das fazendas e engenhos. Através
do recorte discursivo presentes em Rua do
Siriri, foi-nos possível, por meio de um trabalho
de análise de discurso, remontar a história
de mulheres aracajuanas que enfrentavam
inúmeras dificuldades, inclusive as da pobreza.

Abstract:
At the end of the XIX century and
at the beginning of the XX century, the women
from Sergipe, living under the domination
of the patriarchal power, occupied historical
determinations that they could not escape.
In this paper, we investigate the Rua do Siriri
novel, by Amando Fontes, author from Sergipe,
in order to elucidate how women used to live at
this period through the life of the characters. We
observed, then, that the characters by Amando
Fontes were from poor families, mostly coming
from farms and mills. Through the discursive
approach present in Rua do Siriri, it was
possible to, through a discourse analysis work,
reassemble the history of women from Aracaju
that faced countless difficulties, including the
poverty ones.
