Em 15 de julho de 1889, o português
Adriano Valle deu “Vivas ao Partido Republicano”
perante o Imperador e tentou contra a sua
vida com tiros. Seu ato provocou uma nódoa
na colônia portuguesa e nos republicanos.
Este artigo analisa como os jornais, Gazeta de
Noticias e O Paiz, trataram o evento e os seus
desdobramentos que feriram a imagem dos
lusitanos no Brasil.

Abstract:
On 15 July 1889, the Portuguese
Adriano Valle gave “Viva to the Republican
Party” towards the Emperor and tried against
himself with gunfire. His act caused a stain on
the Portuguese colony and the Republicans.
This article analyses how the newspapers,
Gazeta de Noticias and O Paiz, treated the
event and their developments that injured the
image of the Lusitanians in Brazil.
