Abstract: Introduction: The evils caused by the use of contraceptives bring great concern in the veterinary area. Because the drug is sought by guardians who are unaware of the risks it causes, leading to serious consequences. Because of this, imaging methods have been included in the animal oncology clinical routine. Objectives: To analyze and define the importance of ultrasonography as a diagnostic imaging method in cases of clinical oncology in female canine patients. Materials and Methods: A bibliographic review was carried out, using search platforms for scientific literature in Portuguese and English, with restriction of words of the proposed theme, delimiting the year of publication from 2008 to 2021. Results: On average, 98% of the articles stated that the incidence of mammary cancer among female dogs tends to increase significantly when taking into account the purchase of contraceptives by guardians. The use of ultrasonography and infrared thermography were considered by the authors as a complementary method to the clinical routine. Conclusions: Ultrasonography demonstrates greater accuracy in clinical oncology routine when combined with other imaging tests.
