TURISMO, PONTA DO CORUMBAU, PROGRESSO E SUSTENTABILIDADE: UMA PESQUISA DE FENÔMENO SITUADO
Conceituamos turismo como um fenômeno social que se realiza com o deslocamento em viagem de turistas a lugares, expressão da era industrial capitalista moderna que envolve a oferta de serviços econômicos de hospitalidade, cuja racionalidade impacta dimensões espaciais, ambientais, socioculturais, morais e (geo)políticas de países e comunidades hospedeiras. Problematizar o turismo como fator de progresso é o nosso objeto de estudos. A região de Corumbau no sul da Bahia, possui um lugar de pescadores artesanais que, do tupi, significa “final do mundo, começo da terra”, simbolismo à ponta de areia que adentra ao oceano e que só é visível na maré baixa, daí o nome Ponta do Corumbau. 0s objetivos da pesquisa foram identificar e analisar unidades de significados de narrativas de moradores sobre a ideia de progresso e sua relação com turismo. Observações e entrevistas foram os procedimentos utilizados. O objeto da investigação não é o acontecimento em si, mas a natureza subordinada à maneira humana de pôr o problema. A primeira unidade de significados é a identidade dos atores sociais com a natureza. A segunda refere-se ao histórico da ação comunitária, presença do Estado e de ONGs. A terceira diz respeito à precária qualidade de vida. A tendência da perda do espaço é a principal preocupação quanto à desagregação comunitária, em que pese a unanimidade dos entrevistados quanto ao fenômeno turismo como portador de benefícios. Há contra tendências em favor sustentabilidade. Progresso em que a atividade extrativista sazonal é simbiótica com a do fenômeno turismo.

Abstract:
We conceive tourism as a social phenomenon that takes place with the travel of tourists to places, expression of the modern capitalist industrial era that involves the offer of economic services of hospitality, whose rationality impacts spatial, environmental, socio-cultural dimensions, moral and (geo)political of countries and host communities. To problematize tourism as a factor of progress is our object of study. The region of Corumbau, in Bahia, Brazil, has a place of artisanal fishermen that, from the Tupi, means "end of the world, beginning of the land," a symbolism to the point of sand that enters the ocean and is only visible at low tide, hence the name Ponta do Corumbau. The objectives of the research were to identify and analyze units of /meaning of resident narratives on the idea of progress and its relationship with tourism. Observations and interviews with traditional residents were the procedures used. The object of the investigation is not the event itself, but the nature subordinated to the human way of putting the problem. The first unit of meanings is the identity of the social actors with nature. The second refers to the history of community action, and the presence of the State and NGOs. The third concerns the bad quality of life. The trend of loss of space is the main concern regarding community disintegration. There are factors against tendencies and for the sustainability of the place. Progress where the seasonal extractive activity is symbiotic with the phenomenon of tourism.
