TURISMO E LITERATURA: A EXPERIÊNCIA PORTUGUESA
O património cultural de uma cidade ou de um país pode evidenciar-se através dos seus escritores que, na sua obra, refletem a cultura, o modo de
vida, a história dos locais onde viveram ou sobre os quais escreveram.
O turismo literário pode ser encarado como um produto turístico que subsiste a partir da literatura clássica, moderna ou contemporânea, e que visa proporcionar ao turista uma experiência intercultural enriquecedora, levando-o a conhecer o espaço físico retratado na obra de um escritor, ou a aprender a descobrir os lugares onde este viveu e/ou produziu a sua obra.
A procura de roteiros ou itinerários literários, e outros produtos relacionados com a literatura, constitui uma motivação para a viagem de um determinado segmento de turistas – os turistas literários – cujo interesse consiste em descobrir os locais onde escritores de renome eternizaram espaços onde viveram e frequentaram ou, ainda, ficcionaram nas suas obras.
Existem diversos exemplos de cidades que, por todo o mundo, apostaram no turismo literário como uma alternativa às ofertas mais tradicionais do turismo cultural. Em Portugal, escritores como José Saramago, Fernando Pessoa, Eça de Queirós, José Régio, entre outros, inspiraram a criação de roteiros, festivais literários, ou a construção de casas-museu.
O presente texto explora a relação entre o turismo e a literatura, partindo do pressuposto de que quer a obra quer a vida de um escritor podem servir de base à criação de itinerários e lugares literários capazes de potenciar turisticamente os locais onde eles irão ser desenvolvidos, proporcionando uma experiência intercultural e a perpetuação da memória das obras e dos autores. Será feita uma reflexão sobre o potencial de Portugal para este tipo de turismo, apresentando diversos exemplos de locais com especial vocação para este efeito, a partir da obra ou vida de autores reconhecidos nacional e internacionalmente.

Abstract:
A city or a country cultural heritage can be enriched by its writers who reflect on their work the culture, the way of life, and the history of the places where they lived or about they have written.
Literary tourism can be looked at as a cultural tourism product driven from classical, modern or contemporary literature, in the sense that it provides an enriching experience for the tourist, leading him to visit the places portrayed by the author or to learn how to discover the places where he has lived or produced his literary work.
The search for literary itineraries and other literature-related products is a travel motivation for a certain segment of tourists - the literary tourists - whose interest is to discover the places where renowned writers have eternalized spaces where they lived and frequented, or even fictionalized in their works.
There are several examples of cities all over the world that have bet on literary tourism as an alternative to the more traditional cultural tourism offers. In Portugal, writers such as José Saramago, Fernando Pessoa, Eça de Queirós, José Régio, among others, have inspired the creation of itineraries, literary festivals, or the construction of museum houses.
This text explores the relationship between tourism and literature, based on the assumption that both the work and life of a writer can serve as a basis for the creation of itineraries and literary places that can enhance tourism in the places where they will be developed, enhancing an intercultural experience and perpetuating the memory of the works and authors. A reflection will be made about Portugal potential for this type of tourism, showing several examples of places specially dedicated to this purpose, by reference to the life and work of Portuguese authors recognized nationally and internationally.
