Abstract: High-intensity interval training (HIIT) has been widely studied for its effects on cardiovascular health in athletes and individuals with various clinical conditions. Research shows that this modality improves aerobic capacity, endothelial function, and cardiac efficiency, in addition to being an effective tool in cardiovascular rehabilitation. However, improper application of HIIT may lead to adverse cardiac remodeling, increasing the risk of arrhythmias and other heart problems. Nutritional supplementation and individualized training are key factors in optimizing benefits and minimizing risks. HIIT has also shown promise in treating obesity, type 1 diabetes, and inflammatory diseases, provided it is practiced under proper supervision. This study reinforces the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to HIIT prescription to ensure its benefits safely.
