Abstract: Most women with polycystic ovary syndrome have insulin resistance and other common abnormalities such as chronic anuvulation and hyperandrogenism. Objective: To update information on the treatment of the syndrome associated with insulin resistance. Methods: An integrative literature review was developed through searches of scientific articles in the virtual libraries PubMed and Scielo, from 2020 to 2022. Results: the association of Spirolactone, Pioglitazone and Metformin (SPIOMET) was the most beneficial treatment, which normalized the chemokine concentration (CXCL14), and improved the endocrine- metabolic state of the patients. Metformin alone and associated with other drugs showed improvement in symptoms and clinical picture, in addition to interventions related to food and physical training, while other interventions need further studies. Conclusion: Pharmacological treatment with insulin sensitizers are more effective in cases of metabolic disorders linked to PCOS, while supplements and lifestyle adjustments help in clinical improvement.
