TRATAMENTO ALTERNATIVO A BASE DE PLANTAS MEDICINAIS PARA PORTADORES DE DIABETES MELLITUS DO TIPO 2: UMA REVISÃO BIBLIOGRÁFICA
O diabetes mellitus tipo 2 é uma desordem metabólica relacionada a falhas na secreção, produção e/ou ação da insulina, sua terapia consiste em mudanças de hábitos de vida e tratamento medicamentoso, contudo a baixa taxa de adesão ao regime terapêutico evidencia a necessidade de outras alternativas terapêuticas. Diante disto buscou-se realizar uma revisão literária sobre a utilização de plantas medicinais com potencial hipoglicemiante na terapia complementar do Diabetes mellitus tipo II. A metodologia utilizada foi o levantamento bibliográfico a partir de artigos científicos, dissertações e teses que foram encontrados em bancos de dados online, como: Scielo, Ebsco, Science Direct e LILACS, publicados no período entre os anos de 2010 a 2020. A utilização de plantas medicinais com finalidade hipoglicemiante antecede a existência do tratamento alopático, para tanto, dentre as plantas que apresentam potencial antidiabético comprovado cientificamente destacaram-se: Bauhinia forficata, Momordica charantia, Syzygium cumini, Cinnamomum cassia e Cissus verticillata L. A literatura sobre mecanismos de ação, toxicidade, interações e efeitos adversos ainda é escassa, sendo necessário a realização de mais estudos para que essa terapia alternativa seja cada vez mais segura.

Abstract:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder related to failures in the secretion, production and/or action of insulin, its therapy consists of changes in lifestyle and drug treatment, however the low rate of adherence to the therapeutic regime shows the need for other therapeutic alternatives. In view of this, we sought to carry out a literary review on the use of medicinal plants with hypoglycemic potential in the complementary therapy of type II diabetes mellitus. The methodology used was the bibliographic survey based on scientific articles, dissertations and theses that were found in online databases, such as: Scielo, Ebsco, Science direct and LILACS, published in the period between the years 2010 to 2020. The use of medicinal plants with a hypoglicemic purpose predates the existence of allopathic treatment, therefore, among the plants that have scientifically proven antidiabet potencial, the following stand out: Bauhinia forficata, Momordica charantia, Syzygium cumini, Cinnamomum cassia e Cissus verticillata L. The literature on mechanisms of action, toxicity, interactions and adverse effects are still scarce, and further studies are necessary to make this alternative therapy increasingly safe.
