Abstract:
Adolescence, the period between 10 and 19 years old, is a stage of cognitive, biological and psychosocial development. In which the rights of adolescents must be guaranteed by their family, society and the State. However, in some situations the rights of these individuals are neglected, resulting in the need for temporary institutional care. This study aims to know the trajectory of adolescents who live in institutional care. This is a qualitative, descriptive and participatory research, conducted by the Sensitive Creative Method, using the Google Meet® platform to produce the data. The participants were 16 adolescents between 10 and 17 years old, sheltered in an institution in the central region of southern Brazil. The findings reveal that the adolescents were exposed to situations of violations and violence by their own families, leading to the rupture of family and affective bonds. In the same way, these adolescents have already used or are using licit or illicit drugs, which are mainly linked to the family context and are provided by people closest to them. The study revealed that institutionalization weakens family relationships. So, institutions are protection strategies that the judiciary uses to keep children and adolescents away from an environment unfavorable to protection measures.
