Thermal Annealing Effects on Sol-Gel Synthesized Cu2O Nanoparticles
A simple and fast Sol-Gel synthesis of Cu2O nanoparticles is reported. The Cu2O nanoparticles were deposited by drop casting on glass or indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates for characterization, which was done using X-ray diffraction, scanning eletron microscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The Cu2O nanoparticles were exposed to a constant temperature thermal process for different duration times. The resulting nanoparticles morphological and structural changes were analyzed using the cited techniques. It was observed that the thermal treatment of Cu2O nanoparticles is able to slightly increase its size and decrease its band gap energy without affecting crystalline structure.
