Abstract: This chapter examines the extent to which land grabbing in the Brazilian context,driven by economic interests and the financialization of the agricultural sector, compromises food sovereignty and the Human Right to Adequate Food (HRAF), distancing rural property from its social function. Through a theoretical-conceptual analysis, supported by bibliographic and documentary research, it is argued that the appropriation of rural territories by capital agents, often of transnational origin and intensified by the financialization of agriculture, reorients land use towards export monocultures and non-food activities. This process undermines the fundamental social function of land in ensuring domestic food supply, consequently weakening both food sovereignty and the HRAF. The investigation emphasizes the urgent need for a critical revision of the policies and legal frameworks that have enabled such appropriation, advocating for an agrarian development model that prioritizes collective rights, human dignity, and transparency in land governance.
