Abstract: Burn treatment presents significant challenges in medicine, especially due to the complex healing process and the high risk of infection and scarring. Recently, innovative therapies have gained prominence as alternatives to conventional methods, particularly given the rise in cases and the importance of achieving full functional and aesthetic recovery of the skin. Among the solutions explored in recent research, hydrogels stand out for maintaining a moist environment, enabling controlled release of bioactive agents, and stimulating tissue regeneration. Additionally, approaches based on mesenchymal stem cells have shown the ability to accelerate reepithelialization, resulting in more efficient healing. The use of nanotechnology and smart dressings, which not only protect the wound but also release antimicrobial agents precisely, has proven promising for reducing infection risks and allowing real-time monitoring of wound status. However, widespread adoption of these therapies faces barriers such as high costs, lack of standardization, and the need for more robust clinical studies. To understand the impact of these approaches, an integrative literature review was conducted between 2020 and 2025, selecting recent, rigorous, and relevant studies. The findings show that, although advanced therapies offer clear benefits, their broad implementation depends on overcoming economic and scientific challenges as well as democratizing access, guiding future research and more effective clinical practices.
