Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Crohn's disease (CD) is characterized by a chronic, persistent or recurrent inflammatory process, of variable and transmural intensity that can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract in a discontinuous manner. Exclusive enteral nutrition (ENS) is a well-documented first-line treatment method to induce remission in CD. OBJECTIVE: This article aims to verify the results of studies on the use of ENS (exclusive enteral nutrition) in Crohn's disease. METHODS: Literature review in the databases: PubMed, Science Direct, NCBI and Capes Journals, only original articles from 2016 to 2021 were included and studies that addressed exclusive enteral nutrition therapy in a period of 6-8 were included. weeks in Crohn's disease, in children and adults in remission phase. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Positive effects were observed regarding the use of SEN in Crohn's disease in remission in adult patients, verified through the percentages shown in table 1, ranging from 60 to 80% of its effectiveness. Table 2 also shows positive effects in children, where the pediatric remission rate after exclusive use of enteral nutritional therapy for 6 to 8 weeks ranges from 70 to 85%. CONCLUSIONS: Nutritional therapy must consider the stage of the disease in which the individual is, ensuring that the nutritional need will be met and that there are improvements in terms of symptoms and the evolution of mucosal healing, avoiding the worsening of the inflammatory state. More studies must be carried out to prove the effectiveness of SEN and the hypotheses in which it applies, in order to ensure the nutritional well-being of the patient.
