Abstract: This study analyzes the impact of the budesonide/formoterol combination therapy on the quality of life of asthma patients, based on recent scientific evidence and the CONITEC technical report. The research showed that the combination is more effective than monotherapy in controlling symptoms, reducing exacerbations, and improving lung function. Furthermore, the therapy proved to be well-tolerated and associated with greater treatment adherence. Clinical, economic, and population-based studies confirmed the relevance of this therapeutic strategy, including within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). The analysis supports the feasibility of incorporating this combination as a first-line treatment for persistent asthma. The study concludes that budesonide/formoterol represents a significant therapeutic advance, with positive impacts on individual and public health, and potential economic benefits for Brazil’s public health system.
