• Abstract: This chapter describes the experience of applying Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy in a rehabilitation unit for patients with spinal cord injury in a public hospital in the Federal District, during a hospital psychology internship. This approach is direct, focused on the present, and suitable for the hospital setting. In this work, we present the possibilities for the psychologist's role from this perspective. We collected data on the cognitive and behavioral characteristics of the patients through active listening, review of medical records, and discussions with multidisciplinary teams. We conclude that these approaches are applicable in the SUS rehabilitation unit and have been proven effective in promoting health both during hospitalization and after discharge
