TEODICEIAS E ESTRATIFICAÇÃO SOCIAL: UMA LEITURA WEBERIANA DA LEGITIMAÇÃO DAS DESIGUALDADES

Este artigo analisa a relação entre religião e estratificação social à luz da sociologia da religião de Max Weber. Por meio das categorias analíticas de ação social, teodiceia, racionalização e afinidades eletivas, discute-se como diferentes grupos sociais atribuem sentido às suas condições de existência por meio de sistemas religiosos específicos. A religião é abordada como um instrumento simbólico que contribui para a legitimação das desigualdades sociais, oferecendo explicações para o sofrimento e a felicidade de acordo com os estratos sociais. O estudo evidencia como a religião funciona simultaneamente como reflexo e força estruturante das hierarquias sociais, influenciando estilos de vida e expectativas individuais e coletivas.

  • Abstract: This article analyzes the relationship between religion and social stratification through the lens of Max Weber's sociology of religion. Drawing on analytical categories such as social action, theodicy, rationalization, and elective affinities, it discusses how different social groups assign meaning to their life conditions through specific religious frameworks. Religion is examined as a symbolic instrument that legitimizes social inequalities by providing explanations for suffering and happiness according to social strata. The study highlights how religion operates as both a reflection of and a structuring force within social hierarchies, shaping individual and collective ways of life.
