TEMPORALIDADE COMO PROBLEMA HISTÓRICO EM A MONTANHA MÁGICA, DE THOMAS MANN
Este artigo propõe uma análise crítico-histórica da representação do tempo em A montanha mágica (1924), de Thomas Mann. Embasado por uma crítica cultural de cunho materialista, pretende, a partir da interpretação histórica do início do século XX empreendida por Arno J. Mayer (1987), que por sua vez é retomado nas teses de Fredric Jameson (2005a; 2011b), demonstrar como a temática do tempo no romance reflete sobre as contradições da modernidade europeia. Consoante os postulados fenomenológicos de Benedito Nunes (2013) e Paul Ricoeur (2010) analisamos também como o tempo se configura estruturalmente no romance.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a critical-historical analysis of the representation of time in Thomas Mann’s The magic mountain (1924). Based on a cultural critique of a materialism nature, it intends, starting from the historical interpretation of the beginning of the 20th century undertaken by Arno J. Mayer (1987), which in turn is taken up in the theses of Fredric Jameson (2005a; 2011b), to demonstrate how the theme of time in the novel reflects on the contradictions of European modernity. According to the phenomenological postulates of Benedito Nunes (2013) and Paul Ricoeur (2010) we also analyze how time is structurally configured in the novel.
