Abstract: The papaya (Carica papaya L.) crop has significant socioeconomic and nutritional relevance in Brazil, which demands the establishment of productive orchards using high-quality seedlings. This chapter describes the botanical and morphological aspects of the species, highlighting the THB cultivar (Solo Group), widely recognized for its high vigor and commercial standards. The central focus of the text is the agronomic technologies used to optimize seedling production in nurseries. In this context, the use of controlled-release fertilizers is an efficient nutritional strategy, ensuring gradual nutrient availability and minimizing leaching losses from the substrate. Concurrently, the use of agricultural covering nets — such as thermo-reflective, shading, and photo-converting nets — acts directly to mitigate climatic stresses, assist in thermal regulation, and improve plants' capture of the light spectrum. Therefore, it is concluded that the integrated adoption of these technological innovations during the nursery phase is a determining factor in obtaining more vigorous seedlings and ensuring superior agronomic performance after transplanting to the field.
