TALES DE MILETO: UM HERÓI DE SABEDORIA ENIGMÁTICA
Pocas disciplinas hay actualmente que tengan una larga tradición a cuestas, la filosofía puede contarse entre ellas. Sin embargo, si nos aventuramos a mirar el pasado veremos qué tan distinta fue e incluso qué tan peculiares eran los antiguos filósofos. Miles de años han pasado desde que los griegos nombraron a esta búsqueda del conocimiento y más lejos incluso está el modo en que la practicaban. El enfoque de esta investigación se centra en aquellos años en donde la diferencia entre ser sabio y ser filósofo no estaba tan definida, y más precisamente se centra en ponderar la importancia de lo heroico en la figura del llamado primer filósofo griego. Por medio de los textos, su interpretación y las novedades que la arqueología reciente nos brinda damos una lectura sobre la implicancia del brío heroico que aún no le era extraña a la filosofía. Encontramos así que se puede postular una estrecha comunión entre la faceta heroica y la sapiencial en los comienzos del filosofar. Tomando la figura de Tales de Mileto a quien preferimos llamar sólo Θαλῆς recurrimos a textos y a contextos que nos ubican en un horizonte de transiciones en donde los ámbitos divinos y humanos se entremezclan y distancian sutilmente. Finalmente, arribamos a la conclusión que Θαλῆς como héroe, sabio y filósofo muestra una figura compleja donde la vida del personaje tiene tanta relevancia como su legado intelectual.

Abstract:
Few disciplines today have a long-standing tradition, philosophy can be counted among them. However, if we venture to look into the past, we will see how different it was and even how peculiar the ancient philosophers were. Thousands of years have passed since the Greeks named this pursuit of knowledge and even further is the way they practiced it. The focus of this research is on those years when the difference between being a sage and being a philosopher was not so clear-cut, and more precisely on pondering the importance of the heroic in the figure of the so-called first Greek philosopher. By means of the texts, their interpretation, and the novelties that recent archaeology provides us with, we give a reading of the implication of heroic verve that was not yet foreign to philosophy. We thus find that we can postulate a close communion between the heroic and the sapiential facets in the beginnings of philosophizing. Taking the figure of Thales of Miletus whom we prefer to call only Θαλῆς, we turn to texts and contexts that place us in a horizon of transitions where the divine and human realms are subtly intermingled and distanced. Finally, we concluded that Θαλῆς as hero, sage and philosopher shows a complex figure where the life of the character is as relevant as his intellectual legacy.
