The high-flow nasal catheter (HFNC) is a non- invasiveresourcethathasthephysiologicaleffectofreducingrespiratorywork, reducingdeadspace, and promoting eficiente gas Exchange. The objectiveofthestudywastoanalyzetheoutcomeofchildrendiagnosedwithbronchioliti sonventilatorsupportandtherelationshipwiththeetiological agente. A retrospectivesurveywascarried out onthe medical recordsfromJanuarytoDecember 2023 ofthepediatric ICU. The inclusioncriteria in theanalysiswere a diagnosisof viral broonchiolitisrequiringventilatorysupport. The typesofsupportneededwereanalyzed, as well as theirprogressiontoinvasivesupport, totaling 518 children in thiscriterion. Allchildrenincluded in theanalysis (518) startedusing HFNC and 28 (5,4%) ofthemprogressedtoneeding non-invasiveventilation. Ofthese, 7 developedtheneed for invasiveventilatorysupport, and 5 ofthesechildrenalreadyhadcomorbiditiesandassociated antecedentes. Wethereforeconcludethatthe use of HFNC provedtobe na effectivealternative for thetreatmentofbronchiolitis, in additiontobeing a comfortabletherapythatallowsthechildtocommunicate, eat, amongotherbenefits.
