SOBRE O DESENVOLVIMENTO DO CONCEITO DE DOENÇA E DOS CRITERIOS DIAGNOSTICOS EM TORNO DO CONSUMO DE BEBIDAS ALCOÓLICAS
Esse trabalho analisa o desenvolvimento do conceito de doença e dos critérios diagnósticos sobre o consumo de bebidas alcoólicas, especialmente a partir do século XIX. Foi utilizada como metodologia a revisão narrativa de literatura. Os resultados apontam que a revolução industrial ampliou a produção e estimulou o consumo de álcool em vários países, ocasionando um crescimento no número de casos envolvendo seu uso prejudicial. Como consequências, houve mobilizações sociais, políticas e científicas que culminaram na restrição do uso de álcool em várias localidades, ao tempo que aumentava-se o interesse no campo do tratamento e no estabelecimento de critérios diagnósticos que resultaram nos atuais CID-11 e o DSM-V.

Abstract:
This work analyzes the development of the concept of disease and the diagnostic criteria on the consumption of alcoholic beverages, especially from the 19th century onwards. A narrative literature review was used as a methodology. The results show that the industrial revolution expanded the production and stimulated the consumption of alcohol in several countries, causing an increase in the number of cases involving its harmful use. As a consequence, there were social, political and scientific mobilizations that culminated in the restriction of alcohol use in various locations, while increased interests in the field of treatment and in the establishment of diagnostic criteria that resulted in the current ICD-11 and the DSM -V.
