SOB O DOMÍNIO DA INDÚSTRIA CULTURAL: UMA CRÍTICA SOCIOLÓGICA DE FAHRENHEIT 451
Fahrenheit 451, do escritor norte-americano Ray Bradbury, descreve a trajetória do bombeiro Guy Montag numa sociedade distópica pautada pelo hedonismo e pelo consumismo. Nessa sociedade, em prol da manutenção da paz social, a leitura de qualquer forma de literatura foi absolutamente proibida, sendo dever dos bombeiros queimar livros e bibliotecas pessoais. A obra, que se caracteriza como integrante do gênero distópico, não apenas descreve uma sociedade fictícia, mas se trata de uma crítica social à realidade da produção insípida da indústria cultural, que muitas vezes atua maliciosamente na manipulação e despolitização da população.

Abstract:
Fahrenheit 451, by American writer Ray Bradbury, describes the trajectory of fireman Guy Montag in a dystopian society ruled by hedonism and consumerism. In this society, in order to maintain social peace, the reading of any form of literature was absolutely prohibited, and it was the duty of firemen to burn books and personal libraries. The work, which is characterized as part of the dystopian genre, not only describes a fictional society, but is a social critique of the reality of the insipid production of the cultural industry, which often acts maliciously in the manipulation and depoliticization of the population.
