Abstract: As time progresses and technology rapidly advances, it is clearly that the availability of fossil fuels sources is becoming scarce. As a result, the research for renewable energy sources that fulfill the planet's demands is gaining greater relevance with each passing day. One possible solution to this problem that plagues the global population is the production of hydrogen molecules from carbon sources such as methanol, methane, and even ethanol, an abundant reagent in Brazil. Thus, the present conclusion course work aims to conduct a literature review addressing the theme of hydrogen production through various chemical routes from different reactants. The PRISMA methodology was used to prepare the study, and two research approaches: the first analyzing different types of reactors, and the second verifying different types of metals to be used as catalysts. Therefore, both research approaches were carried out to determine the best configuration for hydrogen production. For the different reactor models, the multifunctional reactor showed the best results, with a production 7.61 times higher than that of the PBR reactor (considered the standard model). For the different types of catalysts, the 10% - Cu/CeO2 showed the best performance, with 100% selectivity and 95.2% reactant conversion. Thus, it can be concluded that hydrogen production can be obtained from various chemical reactants, through different chemical reactions, using different reaction modules and catalysts.
