SISTEMA AGROFLORESTAL COM ESPÉCIES NATIVAS DE VALOR MADEIREIRO, COMO ALTERNATIVA SUSTENTÁVEL PARA O USO DA TERRA NA CHAPADA DIAMANTINA
O modelo convencional de ocupação e uso do solo na região da Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, baseado principalmente no desmatamento seguido do plantio de monoculturas ou pastos, tem levado a degradação de importantes recursos naturais (água, biodiversidade, solos e estoques de carbono), com pouquíssimo retorno social. Essa iniciativa tem como objetivo propor alternativas de uso da terra para a região da Chapada Diamantina, capaz de combinar a regeneração ambiental, a geração de receita e a segurança alimentar.
A experiência consiste na elaboração, implantação e manejo de um sistema agroflorestal (SAF), em escala piloto, como alternativa para a recuperação de áreas degradada associada à geração de renda através da produção madeireira. O modelo produtivo é composto por um ensaio implantados em 3ha em dezembro de 2015 no município de Lençóis-BA. Na ocasião foram introduzidos 2 mil mudas de 27 espécies de árvores nativas de valor madeireiro, juntamente com cerca de 350 indivíduos de 3 espécies exóticas também de valor madeireiro.
O ensaio tem tem o intuito de gerar informações silviculturais sobre o desenvolvimento de 30 espécies arbóreas de valor madeireiro, sob condições edafoclimáticas da floresta estacional semidecídua da Chapada Diamantina.
O sistema foi implantado em um pasto abandonado com baixa regeneração natural e solo ácido e muito distrófico (pH4,1; V%4). Um ano antes, janeiro 2015 o solo foi preparado (gradagem calagem em área total e plantio de 5 espécies de adubos verde). Nos anos 1, 2 e 4 o plantio recebeu cultivares de ciclo curto, como: milho, 4 variedades de feijões, 3 de cucurbitaceas e girassol, visando garantir a segurança alimentar e renda nos primeiros anos.

Abstract:
The conventional land occupation model in Chapada Diamantina in the state of Bahia, based mainly on deforestation followed by the planting of monocultures or pastures, is threatening important environmental resources (water, soils, biodiversity and carbon stocks), without social returns to its 400 thousand inhabitants.
This initiative aims to propose alternatives land uses for the Chapada Diamantina region, combining environmental regeneration, income generation and food security.
The experience consists in the development, implementation and management of an agroforestry system (AFS), on a pilot scale, as an alternative for the recovery of degraded areas associated with the generation of income, through timber production. The productive model consists in a experiment implanted in 3ha in December 2015 in the municipality of Lençóis-BA. 2 thousand seedlings of 27 native timber species were planted, together with about 350 individuals of 3 exotic timber species.
The test intends to generate silvicultural information on the development of 30 tree species of good timber value, under edaphoclimatic conditions of the semideciduous seasonal forest of Chapada Diamantina.
The system was implanted in an abandoned pasture with low natural regeneration, acidic and very dystrophic soil (pH4.1; V% 4). A year earlier, January 2015, the soil was prepared (liming harrowing in full area and planting 5 leguminous species - “green manure”). In the first 2 years, short cycle cultivars were planted, such as: corn, 4 varieties of beans, 3 of cucurbits and sunflower, in order to guarantee food security and income in the first years.
