Abstract: In this study, copper wires obtained from electronic waste were collected, separated, and used to produce lamellar material of the gerhardtite type, a rare copper nitrate hydroxide mineral. A chemical process was used for the synthesis of the material, and the final product was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and thermal analysis by TG-DSC. The results indicated that the lamellar material was successfully obtained, with excellent crystallinity, flower-like morphology, and particle size ranging from 5 to 10 micrometers, with thermal stability above 270°C. This suggests that a commercially valuable material can be derived from a substance that is undesirable for nature.
