Abstract: Introduction: CTS is one of the most common hand and wrist injuries today, closely related to repetitive and excessive effort in work environments. This disease is the most common compressive mononeuropathy of the upper limbs and one of those that most generate functional disability Objective : Evaluate the relationship between Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) and work Methods: Bibliographic review carried out from collections in the Scielo and Pubmed platform databases, as well as in the Up to Date online database, in English and Portuguese. 14 articles were included that fit the proposed criteria. Results: Individual factors such as female sex, genetic predisposition, diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, thyroid pathologies, pregnancy, amyloidosis and use of aromatosis inhibitors may be strongly related to the emergence of CTS. Occupational factors such as exposure to cold, exposure to manual vibration and hand and wrist movements with combined force and repetitiveness have stronger evidence as risk factors for the emergence and/or worsening of CTS. Conclusion: It is up to the professional who cares for workers with CTS symptoms to evaluate the complaints and make an early and accurate diagnosis, as well as to evaluate individual risk factors and know, in detail, the activities performed by the worker, in order to be able to define whether the treatment is if of work-related CTS.
