Abstract: Introduction: Burnout Syndrome (BS), a condition resulting from physical and mental exhaustion in the workplace, represents a significant challenge for professionals, especially in the nursing field. Recognized as an occupational disease in 2022, its prevalence among nursing professionals is alarming. This syndrome not only impacts the health of workers, but also compromises the quality of care provided to patients. Given this scenario, the promotion of a healthy work environment and the implementation of organizational interventions are crucial to mitigate the effects of BS and protect the well-being of professionals. Objective: The objective of the present study is to identify and describe the main characteristics of BS, illustrating its forms of treatment in light of the film “Living on the Edge”. Methodology: The research adopted a qualitative and descriptive approach, consisting of a literature review that integrated audiovisual content from the film "Living on the Edge" to analyze BS in nursing professionals. Narrative dynamics techniques were used to divide the film into parts and select relevant scenes. Recent articles were selected from the SciELO and PePSIC databases, as well as books, with specific keywords. The comparative analysis between literary content and film scenes allowed a more informed discussion about the syndrome. Results: The results demonstrated that BS is a very serious illness and, if left untreated, can lead to illnesses such as depression, stress, fatigue, etc. Furthermore, it demonstrated that the workload of these professionals is exhausting and would require more workers for these functions, and that the form of treatment must be administered with an improvement in quality of life. Final Considerations: It is concluded that nursing professionals are extremely important for the immediate care of patients and that it is a profession that is undervalued despite its importance, however patients are very grateful for these professionals who work, especially in the line facing the care of the sick.
