Abstract: The present study aimed to gather information about cardiovascular- renal disorders present in dogs and cats, addressing from the classification of these alterations, the main biomarkers of cardiorenal injury, therapeutic management, to the comorbidities that may be predictive variables of unfavorable prognosis. Therefore, a literature review was carried out and the results pointed to a panel of kidney injury biomarkers used in patients with cardiovascular dysfunction, which demonstrated the potential to diagnose such alteration early, allowing adequate management for cardiorenal syndrome in dogs and cats. Treatment of congestive heart failure with diuretics may act as a contributing factor to kidney damage. Anemia may be related to a worse prognosis for cardiorenal syndrome.
