Abstract: Burnout Syndrome (BS) is a disease that is characterized by chronic work stress and prolonged emotional exhaustion and can appear in days or even years of emotional suffering. It is considered a risk for professionals, especially teachers due to their constant worries and pressure, not only physical efforts, but also emotional involvement and great mental effort. The present study aims to analyze, through a literature review, identify the prevalence and associated factors of Burnout syndrome in teachers. The present study is a bibliographical research of the integrative literature review type. The databases used were Google Scholar; PubMed from the National Library of Medicine; VHL (Virtual Health Library), SCIELO and other types of information sources. Where the search strategy was applied was the following combination of search terms: “Teachers” AND “Burnout Syndrome” AND “Worker’s health”. Or “Teachers” [MeSH Terms] AND "Burnout syndrome" [MeSH Terms] AND "Worker's health". Original articles published between 2017 and 2023 were selected, available free of charge in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Research has shown that teaching is a profession considered one of the most stressful, due to the high number of subjects taught mainly to basic education teachers, long working hours, the physical school environment itself and the lack of professional appreciation. Concluding that teachers have been falling ill more frequently due to their occupational activity.
