SIMBAD, O MARUJO: TECENDO RELAÇÕES ENTRE TEXTO E IMAGEM
O trabalho propõe uma relação
entre texto e imagem na obra Simbad, o
Marujo, obra anônima, adaptada por Ana
Maria Machado. Nessa obra, mergulhar-se-á
para conhecer com afinco sua composição: a
distribuição de imagens – ilustrações de Igor
Machado – e seus atributos relacionados às
palavras que compõem o texto adaptado por
Ana Maria Machado. Na análise entre texto
e imagem da obra, ressaltaremos a função
da ilustração e suas contribuições para a
construção de interpretações para o texto.
Ainda, em síntese, destacaremos as possíveis
escolhas feitas pelo ilustrador ao apresentar
determinada imagem para o texto (qual parte
ele destaca por meio da ilustração e no que ela
pode contribuir na construção da interpretação
textual). Entendendo-se o texto como norteador
da imagem, considerar-se-á as contribuições
de Rudolf Arnhein (1974), que atribui às
imagens características que podem influenciar
na interpretação do texto. Nas imagens
(ilustrações) presentes em Simbad, o Marujo
pode-se evidenciar, por exemplo, o predomínio
de traços que contornam as imagens, o que,
segundo Arnhein (1974), delimita o objeto.
Além dos traços, as cores, a sobreposição de
contornos, a iluminação, a focalização adotada
pelo narrador, atuam como norteadores de
possíveis interpretações para a obra (relação
entre texto e imagem). Na esteira de Arnhein
(1974), serão utilizadas as contribuições
de Nodelman (1988), de Bal (2009) para
estabelecer essa relação e, por fim, ressaltarse-
á, de fato, se as imagens são realmente
direcionadas pelo texto escrito.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a
relationship between the text and the image of
Simbad, o Marujo, an anonymous work adapted
by Ana Maria Machado. The distribution of the
images – illustrated by Igor Machado – and the
attributes related to the words that compose
the text adapted by Ana Maria Machado are
focused in this work so we can truly understand
its composition. In this analysis of the text
and the image, we emphasize the function
of the illustration and its contributions for the
constructions of the interpretations about the
text. We also highlight the possible choices
made by the illustrator when presenting a
determined image for the text (which part stands
out by the illustration chosen and how this may contribute on the construction of the
textual interpretation). Considering the text as the image’s guidance, we consider the
contributions of Rudolf Arnhein (1974), who attributes characteristics to the images
that may influence on the interpretation. On the images present in Simbad, o Marujo,
we can see, for instance, the predominance of traits outlining the illustrations, what,
according to Arnhein (1974), delimits the object. Besides the traits, the colours, the
overlapping outlines, the lighting and the focus used by the narrator act as a guide for
possible interpretations for the work (text and image relationship). On the same line as
Arnhein (1974), we use contributions of Nodelman (1988) and Bal (2009) to establish
that relationship and, finally, we analyse if the images are actually orientated by the
text.
