Abstract: This work was developed with the intention of proposing a teaching posture of more dialogue with the students, placing the student as the author of his own learning. We developed this work in the proposal to apply the Fedathi sequence, composed of four steps: Taking a position, Maturation, Solution and Proof, developed by Professor Hermínio Borges Neto, a tool developed to facilitate the teaching of mathematics in a methodological way. In this work, the method was applied in the study of polynomial functions of the 1st degree, showing this didactic sequence in all its stages. The methodology used was the bibliographic analysis of articles, tcc's, dissertations and theses related to the subject to initially obtain a theoretical framework and later we propose activities to introduce 1st degree polynomial functions and their characteristics using the Fedathi sequence. We conclude by showing that students' interest increases when they actively participate in classes and giving due importance to the Fedathi sequence-oriented method for teaching mathematics.
