Abstract: The present article provides a historical context on rural education in the Maria Preta Settlement in Araçagi, Paraíba, and establishes a connection with interdisciplinary knowledge that propelled the educational development of the locality during the existence of the Settlement. It also contextualizes learning by questioning the development models applied in rural areas that delimited learning with a focus on local development potential. Aspects related to socio-economic conditions, education policies, and social experiences that can influence the learning of these students were highlighted in the text, which reflects on education policies applied in the field, emphasizing the importance of agrarian reform as a catalyst for these policies and improvements in education, mitigating educational differences between two distinct realities. The work aimed to expose agro-pedagogical practices offered in a specific period of the history of the Settlement and the appreciation of this education with the characteristic professional education of rural areas. To do this, theoretical references were used that over time offered significant contributions to rural education, such as Silva, (2024), Freire (1979) Leite (1999) e Bruno (1996), theorists who paved educational paths that promoted access of rural youth to quality vocational education and enabled them to enter the workforce. Educational perspectives validated in the settlement had an impact on the lives of participants who are currently integrated into the workforce, with others pursuing degrees in multiple fields, honing their skills for the new perspectives of rural education to be developed in the locality, aiming at professionalization.
