Abstract: This chapter questions whether Brazil acts from the perspective of water security and to what extent does it guarantee adequate levels of water security for its population? It starts with the UN Watercourses Convention, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1997, and proposes a dialogue with Sustainable Development Goal 6 - Drinking Water and Sanitation, in particular target 6.1, which deals with achieving universal access and equitable safe drinking water for all, by 2030. Through a bibliographic review and document analysis, the objective was to make a preliminary diagnosis, whose results pointed to the existence of relevant Plans and initiatives of the Brazilian State focused on this area subject, however, generally planned for the short term and still lacking in greater geographical coverage and focus on very vulnerable rural areas.
