Abstract: The advent of the Covid-19 pandemic created an unprecedented reality, posing significant challenges to public health and social dynamics globally. Among the most impacted groups are children, whose lives have been abruptly transformed by social distancing, school closures and the suspension of daily activities. Therefore, the study aimed to investigate the potential effects on children's mental health triggered by the most critical period of the Covid-19 pandemic. This study was conceived as a basic and bibliographical research, based on a detailed analysis of the existing literature. It adopted a qualitative and exploratory approach, a method that is characterized by generating results that do not derive from quantitative techniques. The bibliographic search process was carried out through the LILACS, SciELO and BVS databases, from these databases, complete articles in Portuguese and Spanish languages were analyzed, with free access with publications between the years 2020 and 2022. For data analysis, the categorical method was used, which involves decomposing the text into units and categories for subsequent analytical regrouping. The research revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing measures imposed multifaceted challenges on the well-being of the child population, highlighting a predominantly negative impact on different spheres of their lives. The disruption of daily routines and reduction in social interactions emerge as critical factors that have contributed to a range of adverse psychological consequences. It is concluded that these findings highlight the urgency of developing effective strategies that aim to mitigate such impacts, involving the active collaboration of parents, psychology professionals and the community in general. The implementation of integrated and adaptive approaches is essential to support children's mental health during this challenging period, emphasizing the importance of collective and multidisciplinary support.
