Abstract: Sarcopenia, commonly linked to the aging process, is characterized by the progressive loss of muscle mass and decreased strength. This condition presents a significant public health challenge due to its adverse outcomes, such as reduced autonomy, increased vulnerability to falls, and the deterioration of the elderly's quality of life. This literature review addresses the latest updates on sarcopenia's etiology, innovations in diagnostic tools, available therapeutic interventions, and emerging prevention strategies. A profound understanding of sarcopenia and its implications is paramount for drafting effective public policies and guiding future research, aiming to enhance the well-being and longevity of the elderly population.
