RURALIDADES NO URBANO E INSERÇÃO EM REDE URBANA: ESTUDO DE CASO DA CIDADE DE MAIRI (BA)
Este artigo adotou a proposição teórica de que as cidades pequenas são espaços intrínsecos à confluência do urbano e do rural. Assim, o principal objetivo deste texto é compreender a dinâmica socioespacial através da presença de ruralidades na cidade de Mairi (Bahia) e de sua inserção na rede urbana da mesorregião do Centro Norte baiano. Para tanto, a pesquisa foi realizada em três etapas: inicialmente, nos apoiamos na literatura acadêmica para discutir o conceito de cidade pequena e a relação campo-cidade; na segunda etapa, realizou-se levantamento de dados secundários no Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) e na Superintendência de Estudos Econômicos e Sociais (SEI) acerca da cidade de Mairi e da microrregião de Itaberaba (BA), na qual ela está inserida. Por fim, foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo na cidade de Mairi onde foram aplicados 263 questionários aos residentes da sede municipal. As observações obtidas através da pesquisa de campo apontam que a maior parte dos entrevistados conservam costumes tipicamente rurais no espaço citadino.

Abstract:
This paper is based on the theoretical proposition that small cities are spaces characterized by the confluence of urban and rural. The main objective of this text is to understand the socio-spatial dynamics through the presence of ruralities in the city of Mairi (Bahia) and its insertion in the urban network of the mesoregion of the Northern Center of Bahia. For this purpose, the research was conducted in three stages: initially, we grounded on academic literature to discuss the concept of the small town and the countryside-city relationship; in the second stage, a survey of secondary data was carried out basing on primary data made by The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and The Superintendency of Economic and Social Studies (SEI) about the city of Mairi and the micro-region of Itaberaba (BA), in which it is inserted. Finally, a field research was realized in the city of Mairi where 263 questionnaires were applied to residents of the municipal seat. The data obtained through the field research points that most of those interviewed preserve typically rural customs in the city space.
