ROLO DE GRAVURA (PICTURE ROLL) E A ESTRATÉGIA ADVENTISTA DE EVANGELIZAÇÃO INFANTIL E GLOBAL ENTRE 1915 E 1999
Em 1915 a liderança da Igreja
Adventista do Sétimo Dia idealizou nos Estados
Unidos o picture roll para evangelismo infantil
e o rolo de gravura alcançou diversos países,
como o Brasil, em 1931. A pesquisa sistemática
de sua utilização, nas revistas denominacionais,
entre outras Revista Adventista e sau congênere
em inglês, Advent Review, trouxe informações
sobre o seu uso para o público infantil e no
evangelismo além-mar. A pesquisa pretende
indagar sua função diante das necessidades
dos adventistas e busca responder: a que
funções o rolo de gravura alcança em sua
utilização ao longo dos anos. Para caracterizar o
uso de ilustrações no evangelismo e educação,
utilizou-se como referencial David Morgan e
Norbert Elias entendendo este material como
produto cultural com uma identidade adventista
e no contexto do destino manifesto, o rolo de
gravura como um agente civilizador. A existência
desse dispositivo ainda sempre impresso em
1999 indica sua relevância em competição com
outros recursos tecnológicos.

Abstract:
in 1915 the leadership of the
Seventh-day Adventist church idealized in
the United States the picture roll for child
evangelism and o rolo de gravura reached
several countries, such as Brazil, in 1931. The
systematic research of its use, in denominational
journals, among other Revista Adventista and
the congener in english, Advent Review, brought
information about its use to the children’s public
and evangelism overseas. The research intends
to investigate its function in view of the needs
of adventists and seeks to answer: to which
functions the picture roll achieves in its use over
the years. to characterize the use of illustrations
in evangelism and education, we used as
referential David Morgan and Norbert Elias
understanding this material as a cultural product
with an adventist identity and in the context of
the manifest destiny, the engraving roll as a
civilizer agent. the existence of this device still
always printed on 1999 indicates its relevance
in competition with other tecnological resources.
